Dress Rehearsal Organised to Test Operations for the Olympic Torch Relay

Dress Rehearsal Organised to Test Operations for the Olympic Torch Relay

Dress rehearsal organised to test operations for the Olympic Torch Relay

(PRWEB) February 21, 2012

Today the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) confirms that a full dress rehearsal to test the operations around the Olympic Torch Relay – presented by Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung – will take place on the Leicester to Peterborough stretch of the Relay route on Friday 20 April 2012. The primary objective is to test the convoy, crew and communications procedures in advance of the 70-day Relay, rather than encourage people to line the streets as the convoy passes through communities.

Full dress rehearsal to test the operations around the Olympic Torch Relay will take place on 20 April
Rehearsal will recreate the Leicester to Peterborough stretch of the 70-day relay
Search begins for inspirational students to carry the Torch on the rehearsal route

The Leicester to Peterborough stretch has been selected as it represents a typical but technically challenging day on the Relay. The 80-mile route takes in both rural and urban locations and allows every element of the Relay to be tested including convoy splits – when a Torchbearer splits from the convoy to take in a route the convoy cannot access – and alternate modes of transport, including a train and a rescue boat.

Sebastian Coe, Chair of LOCOG, said: `The dress rehearsal will give us the chance to test many of our operations around the Olympic Torch Relay. Test events are a vital part of our operations in preparing for all of the events that are part of the 2012 Games. We are also looking forward to working with the 100 inspirational people who will play an essential role in helping us to test how we will operate during the Relay.

‘The Olympic Torch Relay will be the UK’s moment to shine. We are looking forward to showcasing the historical and social diversity of the UK and celebrating the achievements of the Torchbearers when the Relay starts its journey in May.’

The day starts in Leicester and finishes in Peterborough. The test convoy will travel through Quorn, Loughborough, Hoton, Wymeswold, Asfordby, Melton Mowbray, Langham, Oakham, Uppingham and Stamford. Details of the exact vehicle numbers and roads to be taken will be released by LOCOG and the host local authorities in March to ensure the host communities have plenty of time to plan and make arrangements for the day.

Procedures to be tested on the day will include timings, convoy movement, radio communications, the collection and drop off of Torchbearers, route markings, traffic management and security operations. The rehearsal is the culmination of a series of operational relay tests which have already taken place. These have focused on a range of areas including torch performance, hotel operations and the vehicle convoy.

Hugh Robertson, Minister for Sport and the Olympics, said: ‘The Olympic Torch Relay will give towns across the whole country their moment in the spotlight and celebrate the torch bearers who contribute so positively to their local communities. This dress rehearsal will help ensure that the torch relay goes smoothly.’

The dress rehearsal will involve participants from the Royal College of the Blind, Loughborough College and Leicester, De Montfort, Loughborough and Northampton universities who will carry unlit Torches. The Torches carried on the day will not be lit as the Olympic Flame is not lit until 10 May 2012. As with the Relay itself, each participant will have an inspirational story and will have their nomination supported by their place of study. Podium, the Further and Higher Education Unit for the 2012 Games, is working with the above mentioned institutions to find students who inspire others and make a difference to their school or community. Local authorities from the rehearsal route will also nominate participants.

James Williams, Director, Olympic Torch Relay, The Coca-Cola Company, said: ‘The Olympic Torch Relay will be amazing and we’re really looking forward to putting our plans to the test at the dress rehearsal. We can’t wait for May when the Relay begins and we can start celebrating the inspirational Coca-Cola Future Flames who have been chosen to be Olympic Torchbearers. We’re also excited to be bringing music and celebration to every corner of the UK and encouraging everyone to move to the beat of London 2012 wherever they live.’

Sally Hancock, Director, 2012 Partnership and Group Sponsorship at Lloyds Banking Group, said: ‘As the National Presenting Partner of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay Lloyds TSB is bringing the Olympic Flame closer to our customers and communities. For Lloyds TSB, the Relay binds all of our programmes together in 2012; allowing us to continue to take the inspiration and excitement of the Games to the heart of communities across the U.K. Our Torchbearers will be representing their local communities, Local Heroes will be carrying the Flame for their sport and young athletes all over the UK; schools will be lining the route and helping us celebrate along the way, and with branches on nearly every high street we’re inviting our customers and the local community to celebrate with us as the Torch passes their front doors. The test event brings us one step closer to the start of the Relay and the moment when every corner of Britain will start to feel the excitement of London 2012.’

Mr Sunny Hwang, Vice President & Head of Global Sports Marketing, Samsung Electronics, said: ‘Samsung, as a Presenting Partner of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, supports the most participative and successful Olympic Torch Relay to make London 2012 ‘Everyone’s Olympic Games’ through our wireless technologies.

‘Samsung believes London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay will bring memorable and inspirational moments to everyone in the UK and around the world. We will play a key role in delivering the excitement of the Olympic Torch Relay and make our every effort to ensure seamless operation through a complete full dress rehearsal.’

Gareth Smith, Head of Podium, said: ‘Colleges and Universities have made an unparalleled contribution towards the London 2012 Games and we are delighted that students will be integrally involved in supporting the dress rehearsal for the Olympic Torch Relay. The Further and Higher Education sectors have already played a vital role in hosting pre-Games training camps, supplying volunteers and undertaking cutting edge research.’

The Olympic Torch Relay will start at Land’s End, Cornwall on the morning of 19 May 2012. On leaving Land’s End, the Olympic Flame will travel an estimated 8,000 miles around the UK giving thousands of communities and individuals their moment to shine as the Olympic Flame comes to a place near them.

AirBagIt: When It?s Time to Tow, It?s What You Know

AirBagIt: When It’s Time to Tow, It’s What You Know

AirBagIt

Mesa, Arizona (PRWEB) February 18, 2012

AirBagIt.com has launched a new online educational forum designed specifically to help customers understand the technically intricate world of towing kits.

Alongside its new, trendsetting “Knowledge Base 101” – which overflows with definitions and directions designed to help customers understand their new parts and get them to perform optimally – AirBagIt this week premiered its specialized “Towing Kits Knowledge Base,” an in-depth exploration of towing kit installations and procedures.

“In any industry, on any level, even the best products have to be installed properly, or they’ll never work,” Joe Morrow, president of AirBagIt.com, said in a press statement issued today. “That means truly understanding every part’s purpose and functionality before you even attempt to plug it in. We designed the ‘Towing Kits Knowledge Base’ to give customers that exacting level of detail and wisdom, so they’ll be able to install our towing kits and get the best possible use out of them.”

The “Towing Kits Knowledge Base” includes numerous photographs, cautionary tales about installation mishaps and one-on-one comparisons between customizable AirBagIt.com products and competitors’ one-size-fits-all kits. Among other things, the database explains why it may be worth the time and effort to relocate exhaust or shock absorbers, why simply installing air springs on a truck won’t necessarily make it run smoother and how AirBagIt.com’s advanced Inboard Towing Kit installs inside the frame and over the axle, requiring only 30 PSI to lift (as opposed to 120 PSI with other brands) and still riding smooth.

Visitors will also find links to Off-Road Magazine and 8-Luds Magazine articles on AirBagIt’s exclusive 4Link and Fifth-Wheel towing kits, real-life customer testimonials, customer videos showing the AirBagIt towing kits in action and more.

“We covered just about every part and product we carry in our ‘Knowledge Base 101,’ but we thought it was important to offer some additional knowledge when it comes to our towing kits,” AirBagIt President Morrow noted. “Towing kits are among our most popular products, and we want our current and future customers to know exactly what sets them apart – and to understand that proper installation and maintenance is absolutely critical to their performance.”

AirBagIt launched in 1987 as Ratical Tops, a maker of convertible tops for the popular truck brands of the day. In 1992, the company expanded its product lines to include air-suspension systems and other products. It incorporated that year as AIM Industries, producer of the AirBagIt and Chassis Tech brands.

AirBagIt has continued to expand its product lines – and topflight services, such as the “Knowledge Base 101” and “Towing Kits Knowledge Base” – during more than two decades of professional service. It received a patent in 2002 for engineering the first air strut to replace the original MaxPherson strut suspension system, replacing the MacPherson’s coil spring-suspension with an air-bag suspension.

“We’ve always been about innovation,” Morrow noted. “That’s how we grew from those humble beginnings at Ratical Tops to the global leader in air-suspension kits. But AirBagIt is also about superior customer service. You can’t just throw products out there and hope home mechanics understand them, so we offer these special databases to help our customers understand the best ways to get the most out of AirBagIt and Chassis Tech products.”

For more information on AIM Industries or the AirBagIt and Chassis Tech brands call (800) 842-8789.

“If you need an air-suspension kit, a towing kit, a lambo door or other products to improve your vehicle’s look or performance, AirBagIt.com has what you’re looking for,” Morrow said. “And now, thanks to great innovations like the ‘Towing Kits Knowledge Base,’ even amateur mechanics can better understand our products!”

About AirBagIt

AirBagIt has been the leader of aftermarket air-suspension kits since 1992. Along with the Chassis Tech line of products, AirBagit offers a full line of suspension kits, tow kits, spindles, lambo doors, 4Link kits, train horns and more. The Mesa, Arizona-based retailer ships over 3,000 packages each week and offers a 100-percent refund for unused parts returned within 30 days of purchase, plus a full warranty on all non-electrical parts for as long as the buyer owns them (and a 90-day warranty on all electrical parts).

Cherokee Preservation Foundation Announces New Grants Totaling More than $2.7 Million

Cherokee Preservation Foundation Announces New Grants Totaling More than $ 2.7 Million

Cherokee, NC (PRWEB) March 30, 2011

Cherokee Preservation Foundation (CPFdn) announced it has awarded 24 new grants totaling more than $ 2.7 million that support cultural preservation, economic development, job creation and environmental preservation for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI). The grants include:

A grant to the EBCI’s Strategic Energy Committee to create showcase renewable energy and energy efficiency projects on the Qualla Boundary so the public can see them firsthand and learn their benefits. Projects will include thermal solar installations that heat water, photovoltaic cells that turn sunlight into electricity, and facilities retrofitted with high-efficiency light bulbs, motion detectors, improved insulation and timers on HVAC units.

A grant to the Sequoyah Fund for its revolving loan fund so it can meet increased demand for business start-up and expansion loans throughout the Qualla Boundary and seven far western counties of North Carolina. The Sequoyah Fund is part of the strategy of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians to diversify and revitalize the local economy and help tribal members succeed as business owners.

–The Sequoyah Fund is introducing several new lending products, including a New Economy Fund to provide capital for green, knowledge-based or creative economy businesses and a Healthy Foods Venture to provide lending to local businesses focused on meeting the demand of consumers looking for fresh, healthy, locally produced foods.

–As part of the grant, the Sequoyah Fund will sponsor 20 teachers from the Cherokee Central Schools (CCS) and enable them to attend the North Carolina Rural Entrepreneurship through Action Learning (NC REAL) Institute so they can learn how to incorporate entrepreneurship skill development into the CCS core class curriculum.

–The grant will also enable the Sequoyah Fund to conduct a business plan competition involving students from Western Carolina University, Southwestern Community College, Tri-Counties Community College and Haywood Community College. The inaugural competition in 2010 was a great success.

A grant to the Cherokee Business Development Center, which works closely with the Sequoyah Fund, that will enable the Center to provide a permanent place for community members to receive information on credit scores and get credit counseling, budgeting and other types of training. The grant will also fund the first ever Cherokee High School Business Plan Competition, for which 11th and 12th grade students will be eligible.

A grant to design a new environmentally friendly Cherokee Children’s Home (CCH) facility. Since 1958, the CCH has provided a safe, stable environment for over 1,700 children in need. The CCH allows Cherokee youth to stay in contact with the Cherokee community by being located on the Qualla Boundary, but deteriorating buildings are beginning to limit their capacity to help the youth. Therefore, the CCH will be working with an architectural firm to develop a facility plan that will increase its capacity to help the youth. The plans will have some Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification components that focus on utilizing smart/green construction and operating techniques. The CCH will also be using the grant to develop a fundraising campaign that will help them complete this project by drawing additional financial support.

A grant to Cherokee Central Schools to purchase equipment for science laboratories and the instrumental music program at the middle school and for the digital media studio at the high school. The resources will give students more hand-on opportunities for creative expression and problem solving. The grant will also enable the formation of an Elders Advisory Council that will give students more opportunities to interact and learn from tribal elders.

A grant to the Museum of the Cherokee Indian to present the Southeast Tribes Festival, to have a Cherokee Language Camp in the Snowbird community, and to construct an artifact collection room storage system. The sixth annual Southeast Tribes Festival will bring together master artisans, traditional dance groups, living history demonstrators and athletes for two days of cultural activities. The fifth annual Snowbird Cherokee language camp directed by Shirley Oswalt will focus on student language immersion. The Museum’s new collection room will feature a mobile filing system that increases its artifact storing capacity, thus permitting the Tribe to retrieve archaeological collections that are currently unobtainable due to storage constraints.

A grant to the EBCI Marketing and Promotion Program to present the Festival of Native Peoples, a cultural event that showcases native peoples from across the country. During the Festival, visitors will have the opportunity to experience numerous activities, including traditional dances, songs, stories and foods.

A grant to the Asheville Art Museum so it can present an exhibition of baskets from the Cherokee, the Appalachians and the Lowcountry to examine similarities and differences in the three styles. The Museum will also use the funds to plan a 2012 exhibition of contemporary Cherokee pottery.

Building God’s Way Launches New Program Called Momentum Focused on Creative Strategies for Church Growth and Church Fundraising

Building God’s Way Launches New Program Called Momentum Focused on Creative Strategies for Church Growth and Church Fundraising

Momentum, developed by BGW Forward in Faith

(PRWEB) February 16, 2012

Building God’s Way announced today that it has launched a new program focused on providing creative strategies for church growth and church fundraising. The new program, known as Momentum, is offered through BGW’s Forward in Faith division and was designed to help churches sustain their ministries and gain vitality in light of the current economic situation and shifting age demographic.

The new Momentum program will specifically coach and train church leaders to create the momentum necessary to allow their ministries to effectively raise funds, retire debt, clarify vision, expand outreach, develop passion, inspire volunteers, embrace opportunities, and reach the God-given vision of their ministry. The Momentum program is available to Christian churches nationwide, large or small, traditional or contemporary, regardless of denomination or location.

At 83 million strong, the Millennial generation represents the largest generation in American history Baby Boomers, the largest source of funding in churches today, are now retiring at the rate of 10,000 a day. This changing demographic creates a huge challenge for Christian churches, who are seeking ways to sustain funding for ministries. As this transfer of wealth and control shifts from Baby Boomers to Millennials, the Momentum program will offer a beacon of light to Christian ministries looking for new resources and creative strategies that will not only sustain them, but help them grow in any economic environment.

Building God’s Way (BGW) has established partnerships with a number of key organizations over the years, including Forward in Faith, which offers churches a radically unique approach to capital fundraising. BGW clients around the country have reaped the benefits of this successful partnership and integrated fundraising solution called “Hearing from God”, which is a fresh alternative to the typical high-pressure techniques prevalent in capital fundraising campaigns today. For more information on BGW | Forward in Faith, visit the web site.

BGW Forward in Faith and the Momentum program are headed by Pastor and author Terry Bates and Pastor Michael Goldsmith. Pastor Bates has personally lead three ministries to incredible turnaround growth and teaches and trains pastors across the country following the strategic plan laid out in his book, “Positioning Your Church”. Pastor Bates partnered with John Maxwell on the Million Leader Mandate and was involved in training over 250,000 church leaders in Asia and Africa. He is currently senior Pastor at OKC Faith Church in Oklahoma City, OK. He is the host of the weekly television and radio ministry “Discover Faith” and is a regular host on Trinity Broadcasting Network and guest on Daystar Television Network.

Michael Goldsmith was Senior Pastor of The Assembly in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma from 1998-2008. Under his leadership, the church grew from 500 to more than 1,500 in weekly attendance. Like Terry Bates, Goldsmith was a trainer for John Maxwell’s Million Leaders Mandate in the Philippines and also serves on the Generation Next Advisory Team of the Global Pastors Network. He is also published author, writing chapters in Living Like Jesus, and Trusting God, both Onward Books publications and is a guest columnist for the Daily Oklahoman’s “Keeping the Faith” column and the Broken Arrow Daily Ledger. He also hosts the live “Praise the Lord” program monthly for Trinity Broadcasting Network.

About Building God’s Way – With a portfolio of nearly 400 churches and 120 Christian schools and colleges nationwide, Building God’s Way (BGW) has become a recognized leader in ministry design and construction. BGW has also developed an unparalleled network of kingdom building services that extend beyond just architecture and building and includes engineering, growth coaching, vision casting, capital fundraising, financing, leadership development, audio / video / lighting / broadcast technology and more. The mission of Building God’s Way is to build God’s Kingdom by translating the God-given ministry vision of Christian organizations through high-quality, cost-effective buildings and by demonstrating the love of Christ on the job site through the BGW Ministry of Construction program.

The Consumer Justice Foundation Alerts Public to Washington University in St. Louis Study Concerning Use of Depakote by Children with Bipolar Disorder

The Consumer Justice Foundation Alerts Public to Washington University in St. Louis Study Concerning Use of Depakote by Children with Bipolar Disorder

(PRWEB) February 14, 2012

The Consumer Justice Foundation, a for-profit corporation whose staff of professional consumer advocates provide free online educational resources to the public regarding the potential dangers of using certain prescription medications, hereby alert the public of a recent study performed that reviewed the effectiveness of Depakote when compared to other common medications prescribed to treat bipolar disorder in children.

Specifically, this study, which was performed by researchers at Washington University in St. Louis and that was published in the January 2012 issue of Archives of General Psychiatry, reviewed the progress of 290 children who took part in the study for up to eight weeks. The children subjects were broken down into three groups, and each was given a certain medication: one group was given lithium, one was given risperidone, which is commonly referred to as Risperdal and one group was given divalproex sodium, which is commonly known as Depakote to measure the progress regarding their manic episodes.

Over the course of the eight-week study that was led by BarbaraGeller, M.D., 68.5 percent of the children taking risperidone showed improvements in their manic symptoms, compared with only 35.6 percent of the children taking lithium and 24 percent of those taking divalproexsodium. In addition, some of the subjects experienced Depakote side effects that included weight gain that averaged 3.7 pounds. Throughout the study, 26 percent of the children taking Depakote discontinued their participation.

This study was funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and was designed to provide an analysis of which prescription medications that were commonly prescribed would generally perform the best for children who were between the ages of 6 and 15 years old. The study concluded that those using Risperdal showed the most improvement with their symptoms.

About the Consumer Justice Foundation

The Consumer Justice Foundation, whose Web site is located at http://www.consumerjusticefoundation.com, is a public resource that’s been built and maintained by a group of concerned professionals who want to provide general information for consumers regarding the potential dangers involved with the use of Depakote while pregnant. This resource is not to be considered as medical or legal advice, which should only be dispensed by a licensed medical doctor or a Depakote lawyer.

New Application Server from AquaFold Makes Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence Fast and Simple

New Application Server from AquaFold Makes Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence Fast and Simple

Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) November 07, 2011

AquaFold, Inc. has introduced Aqua Data Server 1.0, the first release of a new product that helps organizations simplify and lower the cost of their Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing environments by streamlining the development and production deployment of ETL (Extract Transform Load) tasks, Data Migrations, Reporting, Dashboards and Form based web applications . Database Administrators, Software Developers, Data Analysts, Statisticians and Quality Assurance Engineers can centralize and automate various data processing tasks in a simple and unified product. Aqua Data Server is a flexible cross-DBMS and cross-platform application server, fully integrated with the universal desktop database administration tool, Aqua Data Studio.

Aqua Data Server provides a rich Open API for accessing, manipulating and visualizing data from many data sources. These APIs are accessible from scripts, known as AquaScripts, which may be easily deployed into projects within Aqua Data Server. The scripts use a simple JavaScript based programming language supported both in Aqua Data Server and Aqua Data Studio. AquaScripts deployed on Aqua Data Server can be executed by multiple users simultaneously, or scheduled for automatic execution with the Aqua Data Server scheduler. AquaScripts are grouped in the project areas of Aqua Data Server that provide login security access, drop in permissions, parameterized launch of AquaScripts and rich GUI features.

“Our users often face challenges dealing with the necessity of performing complex data mining and processing transactions on a recurrent basis or doing identical operations from multiple workplaces, which require running local copies of data mining tools for every user,” explains AquaFold’s Chief Software Architect, Niels Gron. “With Aqua Data Server, the data processing scripts deployed on the server can be executed by many users from a centralized location. Results will only be distributed to intended recipients in the form of emails, HTML reports or Excel spreadsheets.”

Aqua Data Server, coupled with Aqua Data Studio, is a unique solution offering users an unprecedented combination of versatility, simplicity and scalability. Companies deploying Aqua Data Server will boost their efficiency and reduce costs by automating routine data management tasks with AquaScripts. The Open APIs behind the script engine allow users to query and modify multiple server connections from a single AquaScript, even when dealing with multiple relational database management systems from several vendors.

Aqua Data Server offers a full-fledged scripting environment based on JavaScript, making it easy for developers to get started without learning a new programming language. Users can edit and debug AquaScripts either locally in Aqua Data Studio or directly on Aqua Data Server within the browser based GUI. Like all Aqua Data Studio documents, scripts can be placed into a version control repository to allow for team collaboration in developing solutions. Once the scripts are created and tested, they can be deployed into production environments for access and execution by multiple corporate users.

Aqua Data Server works with Windows, Mac OS X and Linux on the Java 1.6 Platform. It is based on the Apache Tomcat application server and MySQL database for application metadata. The web-based interface is supported by all modern web browsers, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Chrome and Safari web browsers. Aqua Data Server comes with native connectivity for all major DBMS servers: Aster nCluster, Apache Derby, DB2 LUW, DB2 iSeries, DB2 zOS, Informix, MS SQL Server, MySQL, Netezza, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Sybase ASE, Sybase IQ, Sybase Anywhere and Teradata. Other databases are supported through generic ODBC and JDBC drivers.

Aqua Data Server is available for immediate download at http://www.aquafold.com/aquadataserver_downloads.html. Aqua Data Server is licensed on the per-execution-thread principle. Pricing starts at $ 1500 USD for a Standard License. Volume discounts are also available and can be viewed at http://www.aquafold.com/store.html.

NJOP to Honor United States Senator Joe Lieberman at 18th Annual Dinner

NJOP to Honor United States Senator Joe Lieberman at 18th Annual Dinner

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 09, 2012

On Monday evening, February 13, 2012, the National Jewish Outreach Program (NJOP) will hold its 18th Annual Dinner, honoring the esteemed and world renowned United States Senator (I-CT) and former Vice Presidential candidate Joe Lieberman.

Senator Joseph I. Lieberman is currently completing his fourth term as Senator from Connecticut and is the Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The Senator’s new book, The Gift of Rest: Rediscovering the Beauty of the Sabbath, dovetails beautifully with efforts of the National Jewish Outreach Program (NJOP) to promote Shabbat observance through its acclaimed SHABBAT ACROSS AMERICA AND CANADA campaign. NJOP is proud to honor the Senator at this year’s gala.

Additional honorees at the dinner are: renowned surgeon Dr. David Samadi and his wife, Sahar Danielpour, Diane and Rabbi Daniel Cohen of Congregation Agudath Sholom in Stamford, CT (to be presented with the Leslie Nelkin Special Service Award) and Susan Hecht and David Cohen (to be presented with the Carl and Sylvia Freyer Young Leadership Award).

The Samadis, both natives of Iran, fled their homeland after the overthrow of the Shah. In the West, they not only found refuge, but achieved uncommon success. Dr. Samadi is a world-renowned urologist and surgeon, serving as the Vice Chairman, Department of Urology, and Chief of Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Since becoming involved with the organization, the Samadis have shown exceptional commitment to NJOP and its programs.

Diane and Rabbi Daniel Cohen are a “power couple” of Congregation Agudath Sholom in Stamford, Connecticut. In addition to his duties as rabbi of Agudath Sholom, Rabbi Cohen also is a National Officer of the Rabbinical Council of America, a Regional Board Member of the ADL, a member of AIPAC’s National Council and serves as the Chairman of the Vaad Hakashrut of Fairfield County. Throughout his years in the rabbinate, Rabbi Cohen has worked closely with NJOP introducing many of NJOP’s innovative programs and establishing a significant outreach presence in all of his congregations.

Graduates of the Lincoln Square Synagogue Beginners Service, Susan Hecht and David Cohen have experienced the good of NJOP programs firsthand. Susan worked for several years in the charitable giving department of the American Technion Society, during which time she volunteered her services to upgrade NJOP’s fund-raising capabilities. Both Susan and David and the entire Hecht family are enthusiastic supporters of NJOP and regularly attend many of NJOP’s educational and social programs.

Finally, Rabbi Yitzchak Rosenbaum, NJOP’s retiring Associate Director will receive a special Farewell Tribute honoring his commitment, dedication to Jewish outreach and the significant contributions he has made to the organization over the years to make it a success.

ABOUT NJOP: The National Jewish Outreach Program was established by Rabbi Ephraim Z. Buchwald in 1987, in response to the spiraling losses of Jews from Jewish life due to assimilation and lack of Jewish knowledge. Since its founding, NJOP has become one of the largest and most successful Jewish outreach organizations in the world. Through attractive and exciting free programs, NJOP reaches out to unaffiliated Jews, offering positive, joyous Jewish experiences and meaningful educational opportunities. NJOP’s programs have been offered at more than 4,759 locations across North America and in 39 countries worldwide. NJOP has reached more than 1,323,000 North American Jews and engaged them in Jewish life.
